How to Top Up

You can top-up your account by credit card / debit card or at any Post Office.

Top-up by Credit / Debit card

You must first register your credit or debit card with talkXtra before it can be used. Third party credit cards cannot be used. Proof of ownership or proof of address may be required before a card can be registered. talkXtra reserve the right to refuse to register a credit / debit card without giving a reason, or to remove a credit / debit card at their sole discretion.

VISA, Mastercard, Post Office

When you decide to top up by Credit Card / Debit Card, (minimum top up is £10) you have four options available to you:

  • 1. Auto top up: Please inform Customer Service staff if you require this option. You may select an amount by which we will top up your account when your talkXtra account balance falls below £5. This is an automatic process, which requires no other action by you. You may cancel this service at any time by phoning customer services.
  • 2. On Line: Log onto www.talkXtra.co.uk, select 'Log in', select 'making payments' and follow the instructions. This service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • 3. Manual on the Phone: Dial any of our access numbers on the card we sent you, enter your account and PIN number, press *7 and you will be asked to enter your credit / debit card number. Enter the number of the Credit / Debit Card you have registered, and your account will be credited with £10* when authorised by your bank. Allow up to 10 minutes for the credit to be applied to your account. This service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • 4. Call talkXtra: (minimum top up is £10) Available Monday to Friday 9.00am to 6.00pm. Or on Saturday 9.00am to 5.00pm. Please note that customer services may not be available on Bank Holidays.

Top-up at the Post Office

You can top up your account at any Post Office, just hand your card and the amount you wish to top up by, to the clerk. Please keep your receipt carefully as any queries can only be investigated if you have your receipt. Minimum top up is £5. Your credit will normally be applied to your talkXtra account within 15 minutes.
